Abstract

Abstract: Law firms are annually ranked and can either treasure their resultant pole position or be upset at where they have been placed. Though some skeptics try to wave away the importance of rankings, there is little doubt that such rankings do make a sizable difference. Clients are swayed, law school graduates as budding lawyers are swayed, etc., and it is readily apparent that rankings are extremely powerful. That being the case, a useful and important consideration arises as to how new technologies, especially the use of AI in the practice of law, will alter the rankings and altogether change the dynamics underlying the myriad of ranking approaches.
