Abstract

The most common method for measuring body temperature to stop the spread of Covid-19 has been a standard thermometer. However, due to the virus’s fast-spreading nature, thermal cameras have won a huge number of new proponents. They argue that they offer an incomparably efficient way of detecting fevers, and thus infections. But what exactly is the legal basis for this type of automatic data profiling? And how does it clash with citizens’ rights provided under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
